50th Annual Conference
11th April 2011
In 1961 a few dedicated controllers started a mission to use shared operational perspectives to improve air traffic control and formed an international association of air traffic controllers.
As air transportation increased immensely over the following decades, controllers from all over the world joined the Federation and played an important part in developing necessary procedures and technology. Operational hands-on knowledge is imperative to ensure a safe, efficient and sustainable air traffic system for the benefit of the flying public.
Today, with airlines and air navigation service providers being under severe economic pressure, air traffic safety requires constant attention. IFATCA and its more than 50.000 members from over 130 countries contribute to finding appropriate solutions. For 50 years now, IFATCA continuously works towards recognition and influence as a controller community – promoting their profession and the need for collaboration. The newly revealed slogan “One sky – One voice” underlines the necessity of a coordinated and communicated approach.
The peaceful Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan welcomes over 350 air traffic controllers from the entire world to address air traffic control related issues and provides the perfect stage to celebrate IFATCA’s 50th anniversary.
